The Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing at Heidelberg University invites to the 3rd Scientific Computing in Cultural Heritage SCCH11 conference, which will be held in Heidelberg, Germany from July 7 to 9.
Co-authored by researchers at the Nationaal Archief (National Archives of the Netherlands) and the National University of Singapore, Art Innovation contributes an oral presentation entitled “Quantitative hyperspectral image analysis for monitoring the condition of historical documents”. This presentation discusses the use of the SEPIA Quantitative Hyperspectral Imager (QHSI) at the Nationaal Archief for monitoring the condition of documents. QHSI measurements were carried out on a 17th century map, before and after an exhibition and storage period of 18 months, and multiple times on an artificially aged discarded original 19th century document in order to analyze spectral differences induced by degradation processes.
